Dr. Haris Dzubur O.D.

Dr. Dzubur is an optometric glaucoma specialist. During his training at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, he completed additional focused coursework in glaucoma. He also participated in an interprofessional education program alongside primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, and dietitians to manage patients with metabolic disease in a team-based setting.

Throughout his career, Dr. Dzubur has examined over 100,000 eyes and brings more than 11 years of clinical experience in meibomian gland probing, a cutting-edge treatment for chronic dry eye and meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). His results-driven approach has helped countless patients find relief from red, itchy, burning, or watery eyes.

Dr. Dzubur holds a B.A.Sc. in Biological and Physical Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago and earned his Doctorate of Optometry from the Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio. He completed clinical rotations at the Orlando VA Hospital, Dan and Hoffman Eye Associates in Miami (ocular surface disease), and specialty contact lens training in Ft. Lauderdale under Dr. Kenneth E. Mailer. His training uniquely positions him as a Chicago medical optometrist skilled in managing glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and more.

As the founder of the OKO Dry Eye Institute, Dr. Dzubur leads one of the region’s most advanced centers for diagnosing and treating dry eye syndrome. He also specializes in fitting custom contact lenses for complex corneal conditions like keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, and post-surgical eyes, as well as multifocal and prosthetic lenses. Additionally, he is a leader in myopia control for children, utilizing proven methods to slow the progression of nearsightedness and preserve long-term vision.

Dr. Dzubur is also an Adjunct Faculty Professor of Optometry at Midwestern University, President of the North Suburban Optometric Association, and a sought-after national speaker on topics like dry eye disease, blepharitis, and ocular allergies. Fluent in Bosnian and Spanish, he offers compassionate, personalized care for patients from all backgrounds.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Dzubur is a devoted husband and father of three children, a board member of a humanitarian nonprofit, and an avid fan of soccer, golf, and family time with his French Bulldog, Duke.

Dr. Luma Mallah, OD

Dr. Luma Mallah is a dedicated pediatric optometrist committed to delivering exceptional, compassionate care to children of all ages and abilities. With advanced training in child eye exams, school vision screenings, and developmental optometry, Dr. Mallah brings a patient-first, heart-led approach to every visit—making her one of Chicago’s rising leaders in kids’ eye care.

As a graduate of Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Optometry, Dr. Mallah has extensive clinical experience managing conditions unique to growing eyes, including myopia (nearsightedness), amblyopia, strabismus, and binocular vision dysfunction. She is passionate about early intervention, offering cutting-edge solutions in myopia control, including orthokeratology, specialty soft lenses, and behavior-based visual hygiene counseling.

Diamond Pagan

With over a decade of experience in the optical and optometry industry, Diamond serves as the Practice Manager at OKO Medical Eyecare, a leading optometry and dry eye clinic in the Chicago area.

She began her career in optical in 2013, developing a strong foundation in retail optical services and patient care. In 2017, Diamond transitioned to a private ophthalmology group serving Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, where she advanced from licensed optician to assistant manager. During this time, she gained deep experience in practice operations, staff leadership, scheduling, insurance coordination, and optimizing the patient experience.

In 2023, Diamond joined OKO Medical Eyecare in Elmwood Park, Illinois, where she now oversees day-to-day clinic operations, supports clinical efficiency, and ensures a seamless patient journey from check-in to follow-up care. She has worked closely with Dr. Haris Dzubur, Chicago optometrist and dry eye specialist, since 2017—bringing long-standing continuity and operational insight to the practice.

Diamond is passionate about creating an exceptional patient experience while supporting a high-performing, growth-focused clinical team in a modern, patient-centered environment.

Crystal Gonzalez

Crystal is a skilled optician and social media consultant at OKO Medical Eyecare, where she supports patients in seeing clearly, feeling confident, and navigating their eye care with ease. She provides personalized care through eyeglass fittings, contact lens support, and dry eye treatments, including in-office procedures like NuLids®.

From appointment scheduling to treatment education and transparent pricing, Crystal ensures every step is clear and stress-free.

Her approach is focused on creating a comfortable, informative, and empowering patient experience, so individuals leave each visit with clarity—both in vision and in their care decisions.

Before joining OKO Medical, Crystal spent six years with a leading retail giant, rising to store manager and developing deep experience in customer service, team leadership, and operational efficiency. She later served as Operational Manager for a luxury brand, where she oversaw shipping, inventory, and logistics—skills she now applies to manage clinic workflows, streamline scheduling, and enhance daily operations.

Outside the clinic, Crystal creates engaging, on-brand social media content that brings OKO Medical’s mission to life. Through compelling photography and digital storytelling, she connects with the community and proves that eye care can be modern, warm, and far from boring.

Emotional Support Dog & Office Ambassador

Duke

Duke is our cherished French Bulldog and a long-standing member of the OKO Medical Eyecare team. For over 10 years, he has served as our in-office emotional support dog, helping create a calm, welcoming environment for patients visiting our optometry and dry eye clinic.

Patients of all ages recognize and love Duke for his gentle presence, which helps reduce anxiety during eye exams, dry eye evaluations, and medical eye care visits. He enjoys quiet walks, relaxing around the office, and providing comfort through simple companionship.

Appropriately, Duke is also an eye allergy and dry eye sufferer himself, requiring regular eye care, lid hygiene, and ongoing pampering—giving him firsthand experience with the importance of managing ocular allergies, eye irritation, and dry eye disease. His journey reinforces our team’s commitment to compassionate, personalized eye care for the entire family.
